Therese Kerr, speaker, author, visionary, and co-founder of the certified organic skincare and product range, The Divine Company, is dedicated to maintaining and educating a salubrious lifestyle.
We first met while waiting in que for a promotional handout for organic almond milk at a women’s business event. It was Therese’s warm aura and sweet smile that captivated me to introduce myself. From there, Therese proceeded to tell me about the story of her health scare journey back in 2001, which was the turning point and motivation for her lifestyle change and the creation of her company.

We talk to Therese about the health and beauty benefits of The Divine Woman and The Divine Company range of products and the importance of chemical free, healthy living.
Why is it important to use healthy products and what is in your product range that is different to others? There are eight major classes of chemicals in our everyday personal skincare and makeup products. They include:
– Endocrine disrupting chemicals
– Obesogens
– Carcinogens
– Teratogens
– Neurotoxins
– Immunotoxins
– Developmental toxins
– Reproductive toxins
Although I educate on all of these chemicals, and all are having a major impact on our health and the health of our children and the planet, the area I specialize in is on the endocrine disrupting chemicals. Endocrine disrupting chemicals mimic the female hormone estrogen and send our endocrine system and as such our hormones into disarray.
According to the latest statistics, 70% of women have some hormone related disorder – from endometriosis to PCOS, infertility, breast or ovarian cancer.
To answer your question in relation to our products, how they differ and what benefits they provide, The Divine Company’s products are Australian Certified Organic (ACO). ACO is one of, if not the most recognized organic certification in the world.
Why is it so important to only use certified organic skincare, and personal care? On average, our skin absorbs 60% of everything we place on it. In some instances, it will absorb 100%, e.g., when you use the product under your arms or in your intimate areas, or when you put any product like toothpaste or mouth rinse in your mouth. When you use perfumes and any product containing the word “fragrance”.
Research is showing that our skin will absorb chemicals up to ten times faster than by way of ingestion (eating food with chemicals) because our skin doesn’t have digestive enzymes to break the chemicals down, nor does it have the further purification of the liver that assists in helping to remove toxins and chemicals from the body.
Therefore, by switching to certified organic skincare and personal care products, you minimize the toxic burden you place on your body each and every day.
There is a great deal of research that links chemical toxicity in the body with unnecessary weight gain or not being able to lose weight. Obesogens (one of the eight classes of chemicals I mentioned earlier) reprogram our normal cells to become fat cells and they cause us to put on and retain weight.
What product from your range are you especially proud of, and why? I love all of The Divine Company products as they have been a labor of love. You can eat all of our products if you wish, that’s how safe they are.
If I were to pick one product as our stand out product, I would have to say our Divine Woman Ultra Perfecting Mask. It is the most beautiful mask I have ever used – super nourishing, super purifying yet hydrating, and plumping. We recommend leaving it on all night and putting the Miracle Oil Serum (one of my other favourite products) on underneath.
What is your number one beauty tip that you live by? Use Certified Organic – minimize the toxic burden you place on yourself every day. Research is showing that most illness is linked in some way to environmental factors of some sort – most of which are manmade. The exciting thing is we can reduce our exposure in simple, easy ways.
Toxins and chemicals cause oxidative stress, oxidative stress leads to weight gain, illness, and aging. Many of the ingredients in everyday conventional cosmetic products are petroleum-based. What are your beauty indulgences? Having a bath with our Divine Woman Recovery Beauty Bath Soak. Our luxurious Recovery Soak contains magnesium flakes, Himalayan Salt, certified organic lavender flowers, certified organic lime peel and the beautiful certified organic essential oils of lavender and lime – all delicately blended to create the most beautiful scent and luxurious bath experience. This is my favourite thing to do to spoil myself, and I usually do this with a cup of green tea in hand!
