Under Skin is a premium dermocosmetics brand combining science with luxury. Dr. Michael Gold of Gold Skin Care Center has chosen this skin care line for his dermatology practice, and shares more regarding the many advantages of this emerging new product line now available in the U.S. market.
Tell us about U.SK; what was it about the company and their products that drew you to this new line? As dermatologists and cosmetic practitioners, we are always looking at the skin care market to see what is new and different. We want to know what we can bring to our patients that is unique. I have been involved in the skin care business and dispensing of skin care products for many years. We have always been a go-to sight for companies with new and innovative products to see that their claims are met with actual patient results. U.SK is a new company for us – in fact, we are the first office offering multiple of their products for our patients and clientele. U.SK has its base in Brazil, one of the most sophisticated countries when it comes to aesthetics and beauty. When some of my close dermatology colleagues first introduced me to the company, one could tell from the outset that there is something there that needed to be explored. We will be working closely with the dermatologists in Brazil and the company to evaluate all of the products in the U.SK line and see where we can take this in the United States skin care market. Science and beauty go together for us. U.SK seems to be ready for the next step and we will help them in that endeavor.

It is said that U.SK combines science and effectiveness with sophistication and luxury. It’s science behind the beauty. How does this make for a better product? With all of the skin care products that are currently available, we, as consumers and practitioners, need to be assured that the products we recommend to our patients and clients are not only efficacious in how they work, but they are safe as well. The U.SK products are produced with an incredible team of researchers in Milan, Italy and, as noted, have been available in Brazil until now. Now we are bringing them to the U.S. Having a dedicated science team behind the products assures that they are doing things right. Once the products arrived in Brazil, clinical testing began there with some of the dermatologists we work with on a regular basis. And now that they are entering the U.S., we will also be conducting clinical research to verify what has already been done and look at new ways to use them in our everyday practices. Science, beauty, wonderful packaging – all make for the next generation of skin care – and these products are on their way.
Why have you chosen U.SK for your practice, and how does it differ from your other products? We have chosen U.SK for our practice because some of my closest colleagues, who live in Brazil, believe so strongly in what U.SK does and how committed they are to dermatologists. We think that some of their unique ingredients allows them to compete with other skin care lines. With appropriate clinical trials we will learn the best ways to incorporate all their skin care lines for our patients.
What are some of the best-selling products within the line, and what are you most excited about? Currently in our office we are selling four U.SK products: The Perfect Rice Scrub, Elixir Pearl & Caviar, Elixir Diamond, and Advanced Hydra Acids. All of these products are selling well and we have received great feedback, however the Rice Scrub and Advanced Hydra Acid seem to create the most attention and feedback from our patients and clients. The Rice Scrub is a blend of a light rice exfoliator, colloidal avena, and olive oil extract. With this unique blend of ingredients; clients can use this product daily without over exfoliating their skin. The Rice Scrub will help to improve melasma plus it will leave the skin soft and smooth. Our second top seller would be the Advanced Hydra Acid, this product has a unique blend of ingredients including Glycolic Acid, Lactobionic acid, Lactic acid, and Mandelic acid combined with a low weight hyaluronic acid. When using this product clients will see improvement in skin texture, tone, fine lines, and wrinkles without over drying the skin!
Do you see this as a game-changer in the realm of skincare; and how? Only time will tell whether this becomes a game-changer or not. It depends on how well they perform, how accessable they are, and how much investment and time the company places on the U.S. market. Right now we are the only office in the U.S. selling multiple products from their line. They will need to build out a U.S. executive team, sales team, and marketing team. They will need U.S. based clinical trials. If they do all of this, and the products perform as we are seeing in our clinic and spa, then they may become the game-changer in skin care.
Through a “complete ritual of beauty” the products work together to provide skin perfection. What are the key processes and active ingredients that help achieve this look of perfection? In a complete beauty ritual, it is very important to use ingredients that work well together. It is important to have an exfoliating product as well as a hydrating product in a skin care routine. Typically we recommend either a Vitamin A product or a product with a blend of AHA acids depending on the patient’s skincare concerns. When using exfoliating products on the skin it can sometimes cause the skin to be dry and slightly irritated, this is the process of skin cells turning over and new skin forming. We always recommend to follow exfoliating products with a moisturizer to hydrate and calm the skin. Hyaluronic acid is a great ingredient to look for in a moisturizing product. Hyaluronic acid absorbs quickly into the skin without clogging pores, leaving the skin firm and hydrated.
What has the response been of your patients so far in regards to the product line? The patients and clients that have used these skin care products have been extremely happy at how they are working and how much skin improvement they are seeing in a quick period of time. We think that this will continue and we will add more and more products over time so that all of the science and beauty are used to their fullest.
