William Tyler + Rolling Stone Young Guns

Rolling Stone announces its new feature Young Guns with these words:

Welcome to Young Guns, our series exploring the most notable guitarists from the next generation of six-string legends.”

As I read their feature on guitarist William Tyler, it was not hard to understand how he could be named, “a most notable guitarist from the next generation of six-string legions.”  That is, now that I have had the chance to hear and most importantly, see him play.  Better late than never.

For some of the most difficult months of my life, William Tyler was the sweet, quiet young man that brewed the finest latte in town, at Nashville’s Portland Brew. ( The original cinder block wall, private-cubicle, Portland Brew on 12 South) His was the face I saw everyday after dropping off my children at school.  It was his coffee and the conversation of my dearest friends, that made my days better.  Little did I know, that William Tyler was only biding his time, at my favorite coffee shop, on his way to being named one of Rolling Stone’s 2014: “10 New Artists You Need To Know.”  I should have known.  He’s that kind of guy.

I am happy to get the chance to be William Tyler’s biggest fan…again.
